Karl J. Niemiec – A Scene

Okay, during the taping of Midnight Rondevu, I was asked to do a monolog. I had been working on one from a Pinter play (can’t remember which one) in Darryl Hickman’s workshop at Debbie Reynolds’ Dance Studios located in North Hollywood. Darryl was in Grapes of Wrath at 8 years old and is the brother of Dwayne Hickman who starred in The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. Anyway, at the time, I was getting minor work playing gangsters live at parties through a dear friend of mine, Nace Mitchell, who has passed on, where I’d go in and give the guest of honor a hard time, sometimes scaring the crap out of people. It was all ad-lib stuff, but my family being Polish Mobsters back in the day, documented in The Polish Gang, well, it just came naturally and was a lot of fun giving bigwigs an unexpected rise. Plus, the 200 bills always came in handy. Miss you, Nance. I shorten this one a bit to keep it closer to a minute, trying to learn how to use this new software, VideoStudios x9. This was also shot by Roger Olkowski on Super VHS in Archy Dolder’s downtown LA loft who directed the show.
